Seachem Flourish Excel has gained quite a name as a reliable liquid carbon source. This product provides organic carbon for the aquarium plants. It also promotes ferrous oxide, which is a necessary element for many aquatic plants.
What is it?
Seachem Flourish Excel is an excellent source of organic carbon is bioavailable. Every plant in the world needs carbon to survive. Typically this carbon is obtained from carbon dioxide, but various organic compounds, i.e. photosynthetic intermediates are also an excellent source of carbon. It can be also used with additional injection of co2. Flourish excel also has properties to reduce iron, which, as a result endorses the ferrous state of iron. This is good for the aquatic plants because ferrous is more easily utilized than ferric. Plants need co2 to make long chain compounds of carbon, which is known as photosynthetic intermediates. Ribulose1,5-biphosphate, 2-carboxy-3-keto-D-arabinitol 1,5 biphosphate etc. are some of the photosynthetic intermediates. Seachem Flourish Excel doesn’t include these specific compounds exactly. By dosing Flourish excel, you bypass the need of co2 and already introduce the finished simple compound to the plants. As a result, this is more effective and easily utilized to the aquatic plants.
Why you should use Seachem Flourish Excel?

Some of the downsides:
=> Seachem Flourish Excel is great for smaller tanks, but not practical for larger tanks.
=> Some plants can’t be grown with this i.e. riccia, hydrilla and liverworts.
=> Too much dosing can be harmful.
=> Should be used with ferts for maximum output.
Directions of use:
After every major water change (40% water change), dose 5 ml (1 cap full) for every 40L of water. For everyday use, use 1 cap full or 5 ml for 200L or 50 gallons of water. In the case of high growth aquariums, you may slowly increase the dosing. Please note that each cap thread indicates to 1mL approximately.
